Our Story

Our History

Tilly (the ice cream truck) has a colorful past.  Previously, she performed her ice cream truck duties delivering treats children everywhere, but over time she became a bit old a rusted.  Originally named “Lolli,” she was found exhausted, rusted and moss covered in a grassy field. After months of work, cleaning, painting, scrubbing and elbow-grease she was returned to her old glory.

She has canvassed Portland Heights for many years, delivering old school ice cream treats and sounding the musical hymns of the traditional music box.  In 2017, she changed hands to an equally excited and traditional ice cream family.  Enter, Christian Buchholz, quite luckily, the luckiest person in the whole world, and her daughters, Emily, Alison and Harper.  Always wanting an ice cream truck, never finding one, and now able to own, operate, drive, deliver and generally have fun doing what they wanted, it was a perfect match!

With her colorful history, a book was created, called “Lolli, the ice cream truck”.  The book is in print and contains all the history and is written for children of all ages: https://lollitheicecreamtruck.com/

Our goal for Tilly (formerly Lolli) is to create the same experience that adults had when they were a child.  The ability to hear the sounds, stare at the choices, unwrap the flavorful treat and continue to run and play.  We love seeing children outside: playing, running, hitting, climbing, smiling and enjoying the days of spring, summer and early fall.  Tilly has the ability to travel to your location, your party, your business, or any type of event.  She has music, lights and eyelashes.  Please call us, text us or send us a note.  We will schedule your event and make it the most special event possible.
