Now warm and dry, end of October. Planning to stay inside till April. New brakes, exhaust, drive shaft, oil valve cover all running well.

2022 OES Event

October 7, 2022

OES was lots of fun, served 400 great children and adults. It was a warm day in October.

Snow in April?????

Well, TIlly is out of the covered, warm storage area surrounded by fancy cars and now in the snow. I think she wants to go back. No ice cream today, looking forward to tomorrow and warmer temps. Please call, text or email.

Tilly is out in 100+ degrees

Tilly’s first day in >100 degrees in 2021. Actually up to 117 in the truck but the ice cream treats stayed cold for all.

Our favorite fans. Gma and Gpa wearing Salt and Straw Ice Cream hats. Tilly the ice cream truck is ready to go, the sun looks to be shiny and most important all the ice cream treats are really cold. We had a great time with the companies favorite fans and the hats looked really great. Bring on summer, we all say.

Masks, Gloves and Plexiglass

We have started the season. We added plexiglass, gloves, sanitizer and masks. We did not remove the smiles and absolute fun. Although we had a late start in June, we are ready for 3rd great year.

Night Event at Multnomah University

Tilly had a great time at Multnomah University for back to school night and orientation. It was super fun for the college students to give out ice cream and everyone was so happy. We did add more LED lights to the rig and now she has 2x lights. Weather is still nice but turning a bit fall-like. Let us know and we will be happy to cater your nighttime event.

Tilly gets new interior paint….

Tilly’s interior was getting a bit beat up over time. I discussed with the CEO and we decided on white again, first cleaned it, rinsed it, primed it. Then using a brush and roller put on a nice coat of oil based paint. The oil part is important because on a hot day, I would STRONGLY recommend an approved mask. I tried with the hold breath method and definitely not effective. Nonetheless, it looks nice, although the smell was noted by the neighbors. Give us a call and take a look at the new inside. Also, I had to drill out a washer for the oil valve cover gasket and cannot say how much I really like having an ACE Hardware close by. Weather is nice and Tilly is ready for your…

Made new seat covers

One thing I learned and enjoyed was a class called Home Ec. I am not even sure if they teach this class anymore but I was taught fundamental skills like balancing a checkbook, baking, sewing etc. I really enjoyed the class and actually enjoyed sewing. I think it was one reason I went into medicine and enjoy the suturing. Nonetheless, Tilley’s seats were getting a bit nasty and I decided to sew new seat covers. I brought up my singer sewing machine, I went to the fabric store, I cut out the design and after a few practice versions created new seat covers. …

New Head Gasket…. Smiling after it works again

Right around July, Tilley started to mix all of her fluids including antifreeze, oil and gas into one concoction. Not good for the ole lady, pressure test said compression between cylinder 2 and 3 was low. Well, my good friend Mike came over and we took apart the engine and put a new head, intake and valve cover gaskets in place It took awhile because the bolts were rusty, parts were odd and a mixture of bolts. Support Randall Children’s NICU Reunion

We were honored to be invited to serve ice cream for Randall Children’s NICU reunion and St. Baldick’s event. Built in 2012, the Randall Children’s NICU is dedicated to caring for critically ill and premature infants. TIlly attends Portland’s Naked Bike Ride

Tilly went to provide ice cream and took a wrong turn and ended up surrounded by the World’s largest Naked bike riders. She put on glasses, blushed a few times but otherwise just sort of stood there inconspicuously and no one noticed. Of course, they did hear the 70’s tunes coming out the back and lots of dancing, enjoyment and peaceful protests. It was alot of fun but not alot of sales. Really hard to eat ice cream, ride a bike and be naked. Oh well, next year, she will bring water. Till next year, keep up the protests and enjoy the day.

Mom and worker #3 enjoying great afternoon in San Francisco at the Museum of Ice Cream. Surprise trip to benefit TIlly and get new ideas for the ice cream workers back home. In the CEO’s absence, the ongoing delivery of ice cream smiles has fallen to Dad and worker #2. The temp has hit 92 degrees so lots of ice cream is needed back home in Portland. School is out and keeping a close lookout for those little ones in the street. Best, MB

Tilly’s new name change

Tilly is officially the name. It looks really nice, please flag us down to tell you more of the history. Also, the new LED lights look especially nice at night and the exterior fan is keeper her cooler.

First sale of the season..

We did it, made it through the winter, started up Tilly and within 30 seconds, our first sale. Vanilla crunch bar, hats off to this nice guy to stopped before we could even get rolling. Happy spring everyone.

Bolt Joins the team

Well, We just couldn’t have a few animals, we have to have a new addition. Unfortunately, we had 2 animals retire and Bolt and Poppy are now filling in the space with youthful playfulness. It is already alot of fun with these two and should make for a very interesting spring.

Another great night watching the swifts, the youngsters and friends sold a few ice creams. It is truly amazing the swifts all flying around the stack then zooming in. It is very exciting when the mean hawk comes around, glad the little mighty swifts gang up and shoo the hawk away. Few more days of sun we hope.

The days are shorts but Tilly is brighter

The days are getting a little shorter, temps a little cooler, thus had permission to add a few LED’s to Tilly. Lights are now inside, outside, front, back and sides. Looks pretty nice and one can see from miles around to get the ice cream. We are still working hard, selling lots of traditional treats plus Ruby Jewels. Odds are you will see us around, but if needed are are available on an urgent basis. Ie. call us and we will do our very best to make it to your event.

The swifts are back at Chapman

The little teeny Swifts are fighting off the big bad Hawk. Here is a video of some of the action. Mean Hawk Seasonal return of the little swifts and night time entertainment. We are in the neighborhood and happy to stop by to watch and provide treats during all the action.

New Glasses for Tilly

Only 1 day to the Eclipse. Kids felt the need to make giant sized Eclipse glasses for Tilly. They look good and protective to boot. Be careful out there.

Heightscream attended a great event supporting Brave the Shave for Children’s Cancer as well as the NICU family reunion. We really enjoyed the community participation and seeing all the children and staff. It was really hot outside.

Trip to Minneapolis to view Tilly’s cousin

We had a great time in Minneapolis and looked at another truck to join Tilly. Very similar 1984 AM General, great condition and no rust. I guess it doesn’t go out in the Winter very much there. The weather was great and folks were super friendly.

Supporting Plant Sale

Tilly had a great time at the St. Thomas Moore plant sale. They had ice cream and tacos and great plants to chose from. The sun was out and the ice cream was super cold. Another great day in the Heights.

Spring finally arrives

Spring has finally arrived after over 150 days of rain. The tulips are out and Tilly is ready. Btw Mechanic Mark fixed the fan belt so all is even better now.
